http://www.schlauchboot-forum.com/fo...ead.php?t=2303

Also, wen's interessiert, hier die Kurzfassung davon.

About BWM (blue water maritime) RIBs.
It is a long story, which started in 1996, when I decided to buy a RIB and I went to U.K. for a boat exhibition and sea trials. That time I met Paul Lemmer former owner of BWM, which you may know from articles about RIBs from different boaters magazines. (RIB International, http://www.ribmagazine.com/). As you know that British labour is expensive and every quality products from U.K. are quite high priced. So after two years of negotiation, my friend and I decided to buy a BWM mould from Paul Lemmer and get training for RIB building. Over last six years we build and sold 14 BWM boats. I have to say we never did it professionally, but only as a part time job - a hobby. We both have other business for living. The BWM in Britain finished-bankrupted and we developed moulds for consoles and the deck here in Czech Republic. Tubes we are buying from Henshaw a British tube manufacturer.
Rib manufacturing has some advantages, you get the boat cheaper, learn a lot about the boat building, but it is too time consuming. Another problem is that before Czech Republic joined EC we did not need CE certification, which costs money and it is difficult legislative procedure, certainly in the Czech Republic. So, at the end I want to say that we really do not manufacture BWM for sale now, only for friend, which have to register the boat as self manufactured, which has disadvantage of you can not sale the boat for five years. As we are older we also prefer boating then working in a warehouse.
Anyway, as I love RIB boats and especially the British design, recently I contacted and visited David Farmer a British manufacture of luxury RIBs with inboard engine called v-type ( http://www.v-type.com ). With a part of my influence he is preparing new project called v-type V2, outboard version of the v-type classic line. For the hull will be used the same mould as for V1 and the RIB will be manufacture in lengths 6.0m, 6.5m and 7.5m. The price will be very reasonable and it will be CE marked. The consoles and some final assembly will be done here in Czech Rep. Our first DEMO RIB I should have at d the beginning of the next year. David already have a prototype with various consoles and seating as you can see on the photographs, but for the production line it will be all new and stylish design. I am also preparing a new www presentation for v-type RIBs.

........
About BWM, we can manufacture a boat BWM RIB, but we do not have CE certification, which is necessary in EU market. The BWM only can be sold as parts or partly builded boat and then locally registered as self construction/self builded.
...................
As I told you RIB building as a hobby was too time consuming, so I do not really want to invest more money and time into obtaining CE certifications. I prefer today to go boating and meet with people interested in RIBs. That is also why I got in contact with David Farmer v-type. I will buy boats from him almost builded, (without outboard engine, steering system) or also without consoles, which will be fixed here in Czech. That will not be so time consuming. In RIB building is most difficult and time consuming to fix a pair of tubes on the fibreglass hull. That will be done in U.K.
For your information v-type 6.0m will cost in Czech Republic around 13 500,-EUR + VAT. It will be fully kitted RIB including hydraulic steering and ballast system mechanism, two colours tubes, consoles like my BWM or similar new design, battery, compass, windscreen etc. (no engine, no trailer).
I do not plan to do licensed production of v-type. As you said about Austria, the market for RIBs in Czech Rep is also very small. We usualy sell two or three boats per year. I also now co-perate with a dealer of SACS. But that is only for customes that insist on sunbed and luxury type of boat.
I have met Charles, the owner of RIBEYE. He also owns now RIBTEC (very trditional British R|IBs). He has premises near David Farmer and David used on his first prototype V2 RIBEYE consoles (on picture). Most of RIBEYE production is done in South Africa Charles's approach to RIBs is a bit different to most British manufacturers. He wants to sell many hundreds RIBs every year and as you know he is promoting and selling through Yamaha.
